Lesotho-Botswana Water Transfer Project
In Lesotho this morning, we toured Katse Dam and the Makhaleng River, the proposed site for the construction of a dam that will supply Botswana with 150 million m³ of water annually.
The Lesotho-Botswana Water Transfer Project reflects our shared vision for sustainable development, addressing Botswana’s long term water security needs while harnessing Lesotho’s abundant water resources.
This partnership strengthens our historic ties and ensures mutual benefit, demonstrating our collective resolve to pursue strength in oneness and the enduring spirit of African exchange.🇧🇼🇱🇸

This year, we mark World Malaria Day under the theme: “Malaria ends with us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite.” It is a powerful reminder that eliminating malaria requires renewed political will, sustained financial investment, and strong partnerships.
We must protect the hard-won gains and accelerate progress. The fight is far from over, but together, we can defeat malaria for good.

New Dawn in Selebi Phikwe
Yesterday, we had a meaningful engagement with the residents of Selebi Phikwe. A topic that continues to weigh heavily is the closure of the BCL Mine. Undoubtedly one of the most unfortunate events in our recent history.
As we chart the way forward, the launch of the Commission of Inquiry represents a critical step towards truth, justice, and accountability.
Equally important were the rich ideas you shared on economic diversification. Where feasible, these ideas will be supported to come alive and drive sustainable development. The outstanding academic performance of Phikwe schools serves as a powerful reminder that giving up is not an option.
Though broken, we shall rise. We will rebuild. In three years, transformation must be visible. Together, we must make it happen.
