The Lusaka Magistrate Court has adjourned a matter in which a Zambia Police Officer is accused of stealing over K600, 000 belonging to the Zambia National Commercial Bank (ZANACO) Civic Centre branch.
The matter has been adjourned to October 12, 2026 for facts and commencement of trial.
Zambia Police Officer Emmanuel Tembo, aged 33 pleaded not guilty to the theft charge, before Chief Resident Magistrate Nthandose Chabala.
Mr Tembo was operating from ZANACO Civic Centre branch on the day in question and is accused of stealing K622,483, belonging to ZANACO bank and failing to secure an AK47 riffle that was under his control.
Mr Tembo however pleaded guilty to a separate charge of failing to secure a firearm or ammunition, contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
In the first count, Mr Tembo is accused of stealing over K600, 000 belonging to ZANACO bank on September 2, 2025.
In the second count, Mr Tembo is accused of failing to secure a firearm in his possession and control on September 15, 2025.
The matter has since been adjourned to October 12, 2026 for sentencing on the charge he admitted and commencement of trial on the denied count.
