Mexican drug lord Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada sentenced to life in US prison

A Mexican drug boss has been sentenced to life in prison by a US court. Ismael Zambada, known as “El Mayo”, agreed to a plea deal last year. He admitted to smuggling millions of kilograms of cocaine over decades, as leader of the Sinaloa Cartel. He was arrested in 2024 in New Mexico. Al Jazeera’s John Holman reports from Mexico City.
